Missing a Huge Rally?

Recently on twitter I came across a message that went something like this:

This is why you should never try to time the market–people who sold their stocks in March are missing huge rally.
I have mentioned here before that using SimpleVesting an investor would have exited equities near the end of December 2007 and been out since. At that time, the Dow was around 13,261, the lows mentioned in the article(6,547.05) represent a 51% loss since then. From this level an investor would need a 102% gain just to get back to break-even! This so-called “powerful” rally was only a 28% move, still a 37% loss since the SimpleVesting exit.
